Medical Marijuana continues to be a controversial topic in the healthcare industry, with experts and research falling on both sides of the aisle. In this session we will explore the risk management issues surrounding the use of medical marijuana by both patients and staff.  We will provide an overview of the therapeutic effects of medical marijuana, current uses, legal issues at the state and federal levels, and suggested risk management strategies for healthcare providers.

  • The pharmacologic basis for the use of therapeutic marijuana
  • The challenges of monitoring performance in employees using medical marijuana
  • Legal challenges associated with the regulation of medical marijuana use
