    The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by President Obama in March 2010. The act brings fundamental change to access to healthcare insurance in the US and will greatly expand private coverage and Medicaid starting in 2014. The reform builds on the current financing structure of the US healthcare system, which is based on multiple payers.
