Guido is a Swiss citizen and has a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering of the University of Applied Sciences Brugg-Windisch and a post-graduate degree in Economics of the University of Applied Sciences in St. Gallen. He worked for seven years as a Consulting Engineer with Holcim Ltd in the cement industry, with postings to South Korea and Australia as a site engineer and was also heavily involved in setting up a Joint Venture operation in Vietnam. Prior to that he spent four years in the gas and steam turbine development of Brown Boveri & Cie.
Four years after Guido joined Swiss Re’s Engineering Underwriting Department in Zurich in 1996 he moved to Malaysia and later to Singapore in the role of the Regional Engineering Manager for South East Asia. During the seven years in Asia he built a strong team of engineering underwriters and managed to position Swiss Re as one of the leading engineering reinsurers in Asia. In summer 2006 he returned to Swiss Re’s Head Office in Zurich to take on a role as a senior member of the Product Centre Engineering where he was the Head of Engineering Large Risks as well as responsible for the Centre of Competence for Renewable Energies.
In February 2010 he assumed the role of the Global Head of Engineering & Construction of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and has since grown the book of business and the global footprint of the team continuously.
Guido is a co-founder of the European Wind Turbine Committee and acted as its first chairman from 2009 till 2012. Under his chairmanship the Offshore Code of Practice for offshore wind projects was developed.
In 2015, Guido was elected to the Executive Committee of the International Machinery Insurance Association (IMIA).
