Janaize Markland is the Director, Business Risk and Insurance at Facebook, Inc. and is responsible for overseeing Facebook's financial risk transfer programs.  Janaize also is a founding member of Facebook's Cross Functional Risk Forum, a grass roots effort uniting a cohort of internal risk management practitioners across the company to share and align on best practices.

Prior to joining Facebook, Janaize worked in various risk and compliance roles at Pacific Gas and Electric Company ultimately serving as the Senior Director, Enterprise and Operational Risk Management (EORM) & Insurance. In this role, she was responsible for implementing and providing governance for PG&E's Enterprise and Operational Risk Management Program and managing the company's $5B insurance portfolio.  
Before joining PG&E, Janaize worked at BC TEL, a telephone utility based in Burnaby, British Columbia, and its successor company, Alberta-based TELUS Corporation, where she developed an environmental program governing the newly merged companies.

Janaize earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Science in Environmental Management from Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia.  
Outside of work, Janaize enjoys hiking, biking, yoga, all things homemade, and watching her two teenaged daughters compete in USTA tennis tournaments held around the country.
