Regular Employment

Location: Madrid, M, ES

Are you a strategic thinker with a sharp execution mindset, energised by turning complexity into clarity and driving real impact in a fast-paced, international environment? If you thrive at the intersection of strategy, operations, and leadership enablement — this is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference at a global level.

About the Role

We are looking for a Divisional Operations Officer (DOO) to play a pivotal role in enabling, challenging, and supporting the leadership team of our Market Unit Switzerland, Italy, Benelux & Nordics, as well as Global Customer & Distribution Management. You will help shape priorities, steer performance, and translate strategic ambitions into tangible, measurable outcomes.

Operating across strategy, operations, and governance, you will combine strategic advisory responsibilities with hands-on operational oversight — including cost and budget management, performance steering, and the orchestration of key strategic initiatives. You will bring clarity and momentum to complex topics, actively shaping decision-making and helping leadership stay focused on what matters most.

This role partners closely with the Market Unit Head and the Head of Operations to jointly steer strategic and operational priorities, while engaging across functions and teams to ensure alignment and consistent execution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Advisory & Leadership Enablement

  • Act as a trusted strategic partner to the Market Unit leadership team, shaping priorities across Market Unit and Global Customer & Distribution Management topics
  • Provide structured insights, challenge assumptions, and actively support high-quality decision-making
  • Develop compelling storylines and high-impact presentations for Executive Committee, Board, and senior stakeholder engagements
  • Drive the leadership agenda, ensuring focus on key priorities and enabling effective, timely decisions

Strategy Development & Execution

  • Support the definition and refinement of Market Unit and Global Customer & Distribution Management strategy
  • Drive execution of key strategic initiatives and ensure delivery against commitments
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear roadmaps and measurable outcomes
  • Identify performance gaps early and drive concrete corrective actions

Cost Management & Financial Steering

  • Own and coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Provide transparency on cost drivers and identify optimisation opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to cost targets and proactively challenge deviations and trade-offs
  • Develop business cases and support investment decisions at senior management level

Performance Management & Governance

  • Steer performance by monitoring KPIs and delivery of key priorities
  • Identify gaps and drive corrective actions to ensure delivery of targets
  • Ensure governance, risk, and control frameworks are in place and adhered to
  • Consolidate inputs into clear, actionable performance insights for leadership

Leadership Orchestration & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the central coordination point across business, operations, and functions
  • Drive alignment and resolve dependencies across teams and regions
  • Build and maintain a strong internal network across Corporate Solutions and the Swiss Re Group
  • Ensure transparency and alignment to support timely and effective execution

People, Communication & Capability Planning

  • Support workforce planning aligned to strategy, budget, and future capability needs
  • Contribute to organisational effectiveness and capability development
  • Support internal communication and engagement initiatives, including leadership events, offsites, and townhalls
  • Help foster collaboration, alignment, and a high-performance environment across regional and global teams

About the Team

You will be joining a dynamic, internationally connected leadership environment, reporting directly to the Head of Switzerland, Benelux/Nordics, Italy and Global Customer and Distribution Management Corporate Solutions. As a key member of the extended Market Unit Leadership Team, you will have meaningful exposure to global Customer & Distribution Management topics and strategic conversations at the highest level.

The team is responsible for steering the strategic and operational direction of the Market Unit, ensuring that priorities are translated from ambition into reality. Working closely with the Head of Operations and the broader Leadership Team, the team drives alignment and execution across a diverse set of functions — including Finance, Underwriting, Distribution, and Global teams — to deliver on both Market Unit and Global Customer & Distribution Management priorities. It is a collaborative, high-performing environment where your contributions will be visible, valued, and impactful.

About You

We are looking for a proactive, intellectually curious professional who combines strategic thinking with a strong delivery orientation. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, engaging confidently with senior stakeholders, and driving alignment across complex, matrixed organisations. You bring a collaborative spirit, a solutions-focused mindset, and the resilience to maintain momentum in a fast-moving environment. You communicate with clarity and conviction, and you know how to turn insight into action.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Proven experience in business management, strategy, or operations roles within a complex, international environment
  • Strong hands-on expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and cost steering, with the ability to provide financial transparency and drive optimisation
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare executive-level presentations and develop clear, compelling, high-impact storylines for senior audiences
  • Track record of driving strategic initiatives from concept through to delivery, with measurable outcomes
  • Experience in performance management, including KPI tracking, governance frameworks, and corrective action planning
  • Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
