About the Role
As a Data Engineer, you'll be a key player in our journey to become truly data-driven. You'll design and deliver cutting-edge data engineering capabilities within our cloud infrastructure, democratizing data access across the organization and creating impactful solutions that transform how we operate.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with Product Owners and Architects to understand requirements, formulate solutions and evaluate implementation effort
Design, develop and maintain scalable data transformation pipelines that handle large volumes of complex reinsurance data
Create and implement analytics models and visualizations that provide actionable insights to business stakeholders
Evaluate new capabilities of our analytics platform, develop prototypes and assess their applicability to our solution landscape
Collaborate globally within our development team to design and deliver innovative data solutions
Apply best practices in data engineering to ensure data quality, reliability, and performance
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data architecture and processes
About the Team
Life & Health Data & Analytics Engineering is a key tech partner for our Life & Health Reinsurance division, supporting in the transformation of the data landscape and the creation of innovative analytical products and capabilities. We are a large globally distributed team working in an agile development landscape, delivering solutions to make better use of our reinsurance data and enhance our ability to make data-driven decisions across the business value chain. As part of L & H Re, our team drives technological innovation that shapes the future of reinsurance.
About You
You're a problem-solver at heart with a passion for data and technology. You thrive in collaborative environments and are excited about creating solutions that have real business impact. You enjoy the challenge of working with large datasets and have the technical expertise to transform complex requirements into elegant data solutions.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science or similar discipline
At least 3-5 years of experience working with large scale software systems
Proficient in Python/PySpark for data processing and transformation
Strong SQL skills (Spark SQL preferred) for data manipulation and analysis
Experience working with large data sets on enterprise data platforms and distributed computing (Spark/Hive/Hadoop preferred)
These are additional nice to haves:
Palantir Foundry experience
Experience with JavaScript/HTML/CSS for front-end data visualization
Experience working in Cloud environments such as AWS or Azure
Knowledge of Insurance Domain, Financial Industry or Finance function
Ability to work effectively in a global and multicultural environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with clear and articulate written and verbal communication
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
