About the role

This role will have you working within a team of trusted individuals to help achieve innovation in the public and private cloud with use of automation. Building secure stable platforms with its core being self service for the business units of Swiss Re.  

Database as a service squad is looking for a Database engineer, working toward AI Ops and engineer cutting edge databases and while providing best cost efficiency for the running platforms.  Daily actives working on agile story task to deliver a successful sprint. 

Limited operational coverage of on duty calls, once every two months and less as team grows, only for high priority incidents. The team runs what they build, so it strives to automate every aspect of operational activities. 

About you

You will be joining a dynamic, very dedicated, and cross-functional Database team located between Bratislava and Zürich within the Global Technology Services department.   

Minimum qualifications 

  • Experience in designing and architecting complex database setups in a cloud environment (preferably Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) 
  • Understanding of the Postgres Database internals 
  • Good understanding of Oracle Databases on a RAC environment preferably Exadata's  
  • Deep understanding of SQL tuning and it's optimization in Oracle and Postgres 
  • Experience in scripting in shell, bash, PowerShell, Python or Go 
  • Developing automation and IaC for databases  Commitment to quality, care for detail and solution oriented 
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to learn
  • English language proficiency  

Nice to have qualifications: 

  • One/more Oracle Certifications  
  • One/more Microsoft Azure Certifications  
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in machine learning, statistical modelling, etc

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 3,800 and EUR 6,300 per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers: 

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, 
  • the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
