We’re looking for new colleagues to strengthen our technology journey in re/insurance
Engineering Manager – You’d become part of our talented engineering community that designs and delivers robust, cloud-native applications and analytical products. Together, we tackle real-world challenges for underwriters and corporate clients such as:
— Building scalable solutions for contract wording, pricing, and costing services
— Designing high-performing, cloud-native systems with Java & TypeScript
— Driving innovation while ensuring reliability, maintainability, and security
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead cross-functional teams of backend, frontend, QA, and infrastructure engineers. You’ll set the technical direction, foster a culture of excellence, and help shape the future of engineering at Swiss Re.
What we’re looking for
— Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
— 5+ years in software development + 2+ years in a leadership role
— Proven track record in building resilient, secure, cloud-based systems
— Strong communicator with a passion for mentoring and developing talent
— Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills
Nice-to-have
— Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms
— Familiarity with event-driven architecture (Kafka, Pub/Sub)
— Experience leading hybrid or remote teams

— Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team
— Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous learning
— Guide the team in designing and delivering modern, cloud-native systems
— Own the software delivery lifecycle: from planning to operation
— Collaborate with product, design, and architecture teams
— Hire, mentor, and support team members in their career growth

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 3,800] and [EUR 6,300] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
- the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.
Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
