Location: Bratislava, SK
Are you a strategic thinker who thrives at the intersection of business and technology? Do you want to shape the architectural backbone of one of the world's leading re/insurers? Swiss Re is looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect to join its Group Enterprise Architecture function — a role with real influence, global reach, and the opportunity to drive meaningful transformation at scale.
About the Role
This is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping how architecture enables business strategy, innovation, and operational excellence across Swiss Re's global landscape. This is a high-impact individual contributor role with broad enterprise exposure, offering significant influence across Swiss Re's most strategic transformation initiatives — from AI/GenAI adoption to large-scale application modernisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture Enablement & Strategy
- Define and evolve enterprise architecture frameworks, principles, standards, and guardrails to enable consistent and scalable delivery across the organisation.
- Translate business strategy into target architectures, roadmaps, and transition plans spanning business, application, data, and technology domains.
- Establish reusable patterns, reference architectures, and best practices, including for AI/GenAI adoption.
- Drive standardisation, simplification, and reuse to improve efficiency and long-term sustainability.
- Ensure alignment between business capabilities, application landscapes, data models, and platforms.
Governance & Design Authority
- Play a key role in architecture governance and Design Authority forums, ensuring high-quality, transparent decision-making.
- Enforce governance processes through structured reviews across the full architecture lifecycle.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, security principles, regulatory requirements, and risk frameworks.
- Provide constructive challenge and guidance to safeguard architectural integrity and business outcomes.
- Maintain visibility of key architectural decisions, trade-offs, and enterprise-wide impacts.
Architecture Oversight & Delivery Enablement
- Contribute to architectural designs and provide oversight for major transformation initiatives.
- Ensure solutions align with target architectures, standards, and strategic direction.
- Enable delivery teams through clear guidance, pragmatic guardrails, and decision support across the delivery lifecycle.
- Support programmes in managing architectural risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
- Balance long-term vision with practical, real-world delivery needs.
Cross-Domain Alignment & Community Leadership
- Collaborate with Domain Architects to ensure enterprise-wide alignment and coherence.
- Facilitate resolution of cross-domain dependencies and conflicts with a solutions-focused mindset.
- Promote a "one architecture" mindset, balancing consistency with domain autonomy.
- Contribute to the architecture community through mentoring, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
- Build trusted relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders across the organisation.
- Communicate architectural concepts in a clear, concise, and business-relevant manner to diverse audiences.
- Act as a strategic advisor on investment decisions and transformation roadmaps.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
