About the Role

As a Life & Health Operations Manager, you'll lead teams dedicated to specific markets, overseeing the operations of the entire treaty life cycle. You'll build strong relationships across the organization while representing operational topics and driving issue resolution in various forums.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate multiple teams of Operations Analysts and first-line managers to achieve team targets and KPIs
  • Develop and stabilize well-functioning Operations Units that perform according to all agreed operational processes and guidelines
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Market Units and the rest of the value chain
  • Ensure professional service provision and communication with clients and stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes and quality of provided services
  • Analyze the organization's competitive position by considering market trends, customer needs, and competitive strengths/weaknesses
  • Implement strategic thinking to understand industry trends affecting organizational competitiveness
  • Develop talent and foster professional growth within your teams
  • Manage reporting, quality, and risk management activities

About the Team

The Business Operations department is part of the L&H COO within Swiss Re. Our people are responsible for the treaty lifecycle - setting up treaties, receiving accounts from clients, analyzing and processing documents, and bringing cash in-house. The quality of our work influences Swiss Re's reputation and is instrumental in the company's growth in all markets around the world.

About You

You're a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership abilities and a proven track record in operational management. You thrive in dynamic, multicultural environments and have a strong service orientation. Your ability to adapt to change, implement new concepts, and drive continuous improvement makes you an ideal candidate for this role.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Experience within shared services and financial accounting
  • Ideally 5+ years of experience in higher managerial positions, leading several teams in shared services or financial services (banking, insurance)
  • Demonstrated ability to think globally and strategically while developing and implementing new concepts
  • Strong focus on performance, targets, and risk management activities

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience in reinsurance or insurance operations
  • Experience working in global organizations
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to see how objectives fit into overall team/business goals
  • Understanding of the underlying economics of the insurance industry

The estimated base salary range for this position is $116,000 to $174,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week. This role is NOT eligible for visa support/sponsorship. There is no relocation assistance either.
