About the Role
As a Manager in Financial Governance at Swiss Re, you will play a pivotal role in driving improvements in our financial reporting landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to design sustainable IFRS Reporting processes and controls while collaborating with talented professionals across financial, actuarial, and business unit teams. Your expertise will directly impact Swiss Re's success by building a robust financial control environment that not only delivers an accelerated close but also ensures we meet internal and regulatory requirements with confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a robust IFRS 17 control environment in alignment with the external auditor, ensuring design effectiveness and continuously driving improvements from business units to financial reporting.
- Lead and coordinate risk and control assessments, identify gaps, and drive sustainable remediation plans together with stakeholders across operations, finance, actuarial, and risk management/audit to manage and mitigate emerging financial reporting risks.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of financial processes and controlsfor reliance by internal and external auditors.
- Lead smaller change initiatives or internal projects related to financial governance and control transformation under IFRS 17.
- Prepare and present insightful reports and analyses to senior management, translating complex financial governance matters into clear, actionable insights.
About the Team
You would join the Financial Governance team within the Group Reporting & Investor Relations Department. The mission of Financial Governance is to enable trust and integrity of Swiss Re's Group Financial Statements and Reporting through a strong control environment. We are a team of young Finance professionals with international backgrounds, demonstrating high integrity andproactive ambition to drive forward Swiss Re's strategy of building an efficient and resilient finance operating model.
About You
You're an ambitious finance professional with a passion for effective financial governance and internal controls. You thrive in collaborative environments where you can apply your analytical mindset to solve complex problems. Your excellent communication skills allow you to translate technical requirements into clear guidance for diverse stakeholders, and you're best known for your proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues before they arise.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in the insurance industry in an audit or assurance role, including at least 2 years of IFRS 17 experience
- Strong understanding of IFRS 17 financial statements, related reporting risks, and internal controls over financial reporting
- Mindset: Independent, critical thinker, willing to challenge constructively and assertively while arriving to a solution
- Proven ability to organize self and peers proactively
- Impactful presentation and writing skills with excellent English proficiency
These are additional nice to haves:
- Professional certification such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or CIA
- Knowledge of SAP FPSL, technical accounting, actuarial systems or GRC tools
- Experience with process automation and control optimization, including baselining automated controls
- Change management experience in finance transformation projects and knowledge of project management methods
- Multilingual capabilities to support global stakeholder engagement
For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between 124,000 and 186,000 CHF (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role
- the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
