About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Automation Engineer to join our global Solutions team in Bratislava. In this role, you will contribute to the evolution and support of Magnum, Swiss Re’s market-leading automated underwriting solution, currently deployed with more than 70 clients worldwide.

You will play a key role across the full solution lifecycle — from design and development through testing, validation, and continuous improvement. Working closely with product, underwriting, and technology stakeholders, you will help ensure Magnum continues to deliver reliable, scalable, and best-in-class automated underwriting capabilities that support our clients’ digital transformation journeys.

Magnum is a strategic Swiss Re product, combining advanced risk knowledge with modern automation technologies to enable efficient, consistent, and high-quality underwriting decisions across Life and Health markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, and delivery of automation solutions aligned with product strategy and client requirements
  • Produce clear and well-structured functional and technical specifications
  • Develop and maintain underwriting rules, automation logic, and supporting components
  • Contribute to ongoing Magnum product enhancements and innovation initiatives
  • Apply automation and RPA technologies to streamline and optimize business processes
  • Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, including regression test packs
  • Validate development outcomes against defined business and client requirements
  • Identify, track, and resolve defects throughout the full development lifecycle
  • Actively participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) cycles and release validation activities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and test suites
  • Continuously improve test automation approaches to enhance coverage, reliability, and efficiency
  • Collaborate effectively with global stakeholders across multiple time zones

About You

Required Experience & Skills

  • 2-3 + years of experience in software development, automation engineering, or quality engineering
  • Experience working in Insurance, Banking, or Financial Services IT environments
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Programming experience in Java, JavaScript, C#, or similar languages
  • Experience in test design, execution, and defect management
  • Familiarity with web technologies, API testing, and SQL databases
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a global, multicultural environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with automation and RPA tools (UiPath preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g. BDD, Selenium, Postman, Visual Studio)
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ownership and step beyond defined role boundaries

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 1,300 and EUR 2,300 per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
  • the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.

Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
