Legal Intern (Hybrid)
Location: Sao Paulo, SP, BR
We are looking for a motivated law student to join our Legal Team supporting Swiss Re’s Reinsurance business in Brazil and the Southern Cone. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a highly regulated, international environment, working closely with business stakeholders and legal professionals across Latin America.
About the Role:
You will work closely with the Legal Counsel responsible for Swiss Re’s Reinsurance operations in Brazil and the Southern Cone, providing support across a broad range of legal and regulatory matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal research on insurance and reinsurance regulation, corporate law, and related matters
- Assisting in the drafting and review of basic legal documents, including corporate and contractual materials
- Supporting the preparation of internal legal memoranda, reports, and regulatory submissions
- Assisting in corporate governance activities (e.g., board documentation, filings, compliance tracking)
- Helping maintain organized legal documentation and filing systems (physical and digital)
- Supporting the preparation of presentations, training materials, and internal communications
- Supporting legal initiatives involving regulatory changes, corporate projects, and internal process improvements
In this role, you will have exposure to cross-border legal work and interaction with multidisciplinary teams, including Business, Compliance, Risk, and Finance.
About the Team:
The Brazil Reinsurance Legal team is a lean and high-impact function, currently composed of one dedicated Legal Counsel overseeing multiple legal entities in Brazil. The team is part of the broader LatAm Legal function, which includes lawyers based in New York, Colombia, Brazil, and Mexico.
The team provides strategic legal support across a wide range of topics, including regulatory, corporate governance, transactional, and product-related matters for Reinsurance businesses (L&H and P&C).
Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, the team partners closely with business and corporate functions and interacts with regulators such as SUSEP. Collaboration, ownership, and adaptability are key characteristics of the team’s working model.
As part of this structure, you will have meaningful exposure to real legal matters and the opportunity to actively contribute to the team’s deliverables.
About You:
We are looking for a law student who is eager to develop a career in corporate, regulatory, and insurance/reinsurance law.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Law degree - Graduation expected in 2027 or after
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced English
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint; Excel is a plus)

To be eligible for an internship position in Brazil, candidates must be actively enrolled in a Brazilian higher education institution or participating in an exchange program with a local university, in accordance with local internship regulations.
