About the Role

As an Operational Risk Policy Governance Analyst at Swiss Re, you will play a pivotal role in building and shaping a central second line of defence (2LoD) policy governance capability for selected operational risks, including emerging and evolving areas such as AI, Data Management, and Records Management. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the design of clear, consistent, and effective policy frameworks that drive sustainable governance across the organisation. You will work closely with first-line teams and subject matter experts, bringing structure, rigour, and insight to the full policy lifecycle—from architecture and guardrails through to approvals, periodic review, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain policy architecture — design and evolve the structural framework for selected operational risk policies, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with Swiss Re's governance standards
  • Define policy requirements and guardrails — draft clear, concise, and practical policy requirements that provide effective second line oversight and guidance to first line teams
  • Coordinate approvals and periodic reviews — manage governance processes end-to-end, ensuring timely approvals, structured review cycles, and accurate documentation
  • Support end-to-end policy lifecycle management and reporting — oversee the full lifecycle of policies from inception through to retirement, maintaining high-quality records and producing meaningful governance reporting
  • Provide trusted second line oversight and constructive challenge — act as a credible and collaborative partner to first line teams and subject matter experts, offering sound judgement and independent perspective on governance matters
  • Engage and manage stakeholders across functions and seniority levels — build and maintain strong professional networks, communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Contribute to continuous improvement — proactively identify opportunities to enhance policy governance processes, frameworks, and tools in a dynamic and evolving risk environment

About the Team

The ORM Policy Governance team sits within Group Functions Risk Management (GFRM) at Swiss Re. The team is responsible for building and maintaining a central 2LoD policy governance capability for selected operational risks, working across the organisation to ensure that policy requirements are clear, robust, and fit for purpose. The team collaborates closely with first line teams and subject matter experts to promote consistent, sustainable governance across a broad range of evolving operational risk topics — from AI and Data Management to Records Management and beyond.

About You

You are a detail-oriented, collaborative, and proactive professional with a genuine interest inoperational risk governance and policy design. You bring strong analytical and communicationskills, a structured working style, and the confidence to engage and challenge constructivelyacross all levels of the organisation. You are comfortable navigating complexity, managingmultiple priorities, and contributing meaningfully to a team that values knowledge sharing,curiosity, and continuous improvement.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Operational risk management expertise — relevant experience in operational risk management, financial or non-financial risk governance, or a comparable control/governance environment within insurance or financial services
  • Policy governance experience — demonstrated experience in policy drafting, policy review, governance processes, or lifecycle management, with a strong ability to write clear, concise, and practical policy requirements
  • Understanding of the three lines of defence model — solid grasp of operational risk management concepts and governance frameworks, with the ability to apply sound judgement on governance matters
  • Academic foundation — university degree in business, finance, law, risk management, or a related field (or equivalent studies)
  • Communication and stakeholder engagement skills — strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and challenge constructively

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience working in a second line of defence or oversight function within a large, complex organisation
  • Familiarity with evolving operational risk topics such as AI governance, data management, or records management
  • Experience working in a multinational or cross-cultural environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple topics and deadlines simultaneously
  • A collaborative mindset with a passion for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
  • Ability to switch fluidly between detailed analytical work and strategic, big-picture thinking

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 2,000 and EUR 3,400 per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
•  the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
•  the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialization, skills and experience.In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based bonus.
