About the Role
As a Quantitative Credit Actuary, you'll be at the intersection of actuarial science and credit risk modeling, developing sophisticated tools that directly influence business profitability. You'll combine analytical rigor with business acumen to build, enhance, and deploy pricing models that drive critical underwriting decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and enhance costing models for Credit & Surety risks using both analytical and simulation-based approaches
Translate business requirements into technical specifications, prototypes, and user stories for development teams
Partner with stakeholders across Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Actuarial to provide comprehensive risk assessments
Drive model improvements through Python-based development, ensuring solutions are robust, maintainable, and scalable
Support pricing decisions for individual deals, single risks, and portfolio transactions with actionable insights
Validate model performance through testing and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and reliability
Contribute to parameter setting (EAD, LGD, PD) aligned with Swiss Re standards and evolving business needs
Enhance specialized tools for Structured Credit transactions, Single Risks, and Portfolio Deals
Provide independent actuarial opinions on pricing and risk assessment
About the Team
We are a friendly and collaborative team, who always puts the client first. We partner with portfolio owners to provide the framework of proper portfolio steering and insights to make us more profitable. We focus on data driven outcomes to find new ways to solve challenges through quantitative models and data transformation. The Actuarial Portfolio Management Credit and Surety (APM C&S) team reports directly to the Head Underwriting Excellence, Corporate Solutions.
About You
You're a quantitative professional who excels at translating complex analytical concepts into business value. You combine technical expertise with excellent communication skills, allowing you to build strong relationships across disciplines and influence decision-making at all levels. You're curious, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement in both your technical capabilities and business understanding.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
4+ years of experience in quantitative model development, statistical risk modeling, pricing/risk analytics, or closely related fields
Strong quantitative background (e.g., Master's in Computational Finance, Financial Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or similar)
Hands-on Python expertise, including working with/building production-grade applications (packaging, testing, model pipelines and deployment)
Ability to combine quantitative skills with business judgment and communicate findings clearly through presentations and visualizations
Capability to build assumptions, methods, and conclusions with focus on evaluating accuracy and uncertainty in models
These are additional nice to haves:
Familiarity with Java or C++ for performance-sensitive modeling components and/or integration
Experience (work or academic) in model development for Securitization / CDOs / CLOs / SRTs or broadly structured credit products
Progress toward professional qualifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, CQF, IFoA, IAI, etc.)
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
