Regulatory Operations Compliance Specialist
Locations: Windsor, CT, US | Kansas City, MO, US
Are you a regulatory professional who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment? We're looking for a Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in keeping our insurance products compliant, competitive, and market-ready across the U.S.
About the Role
As a Regulatory Compliance Specialist, you'll be at the heart of Swiss Re's product compliance efforts — guiding insurance product filings from concept through approval and ensuring regulatory requirements are met without losing sight of business goals. You'll be a trusted advisor to business, legal, and implementation teams, navigating the intricacies of multi-state regulatory frameworks with confidence and precision. No two days will look the same, and that's exactly what makes this role so exciting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end filing processes — create and submit state rate, rule, and form filings in full compliance with regulatory requirements and business objectives
- Drive filing strategy — partner with business units to determine the most effective filing approach for each product or regulatory change
- Analyze regulatory developments — review and interpret statutes, regulations, and bulletins to assess product impact and ensure ongoing compliance
- Lead regulator engagement — own communication and negotiation with state insurance departments to support timely and favorable filing approvals
- Provide regulatory advisory support — respond to internal inquiries on notice, cancellation, non-renewal, and filing requirements with clarity and expertise
- Coordinate implementation — work closely with implementation teams to ensure approved regulatory changes are accurately and efficiently reflected in policy issuance systems
- Maintain regulatory records — keep internal regulatory tracking systems up to date and complete assigned regulatory reports with accuracy
- Collaborate across functions — engage with underwriting, legal, operations, and other stakeholders throughout the full filing lifecycle to ensure alignment and compliance
About the Team
You'll be joining the Regulatory Operations Product Services team — a collaborative, skilled, and supportive group that provides regulatory compliance support to multiple Corporate Solutions businesses across the globe. Our team brings together a diverse set of expertise and works hand-in-hand with departments across the organization to meet state regulatory requirements and implement product and regulatory changes effectively.
What makes us unique? No two days are alike. We thrive in an ever-changing product and regulatory landscape, and we embrace that complexity as an opportunity to grow. We're a team that looks out for one another — we collaborate, train, and mentor new colleagues, and we're always pursuing ways to improve how we work. If you're looking for a team culture built on trust, curiosity, and continuous learning, you've found it.
About You
You're a detail-oriented, intellectually curious professional who enjoys untangling regulatory complexity and turning it into clear, actionable guidance. You communicate with confidence — whether you're negotiating with a state regulator or advising an internal stakeholder — and you bring a collaborative spirit to everything you do. You're comfortable managing multiple priorities, adapting to shifting landscapes, and taking ownership of your work from start to finish.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- College degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field
- 2–5 years of experience in insurance rate and form filing, policy issuance system implementation, or other insurance regulatory-related work
- Familiarity with Bureau Circulars such as ISO, AAIS, and similar industry resources
- Proficiency with core regulatory and productivity tools, including SERFF, iFile, NILS, ISOnet, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Working knowledge of U.S. insurance regulatory frameworks and multi-state filing requirements
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience working with multiple lines of business across different states simultaneously
- Familiarity with policy issuance systems and how regulatory changes are implemented within them
- Experience engaging directly with state insurance departments and managing regulator relationships
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex statutory and regulatory language
- A collaborative mindset with experience working cross-functionally with legal, underwriting, and operations teams
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and a passion for staying current on regulatory developments
