Senior Data Engineer – Palantir Foundry

About the Role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll architect and build sophisticated data pipelines that fuel critical business decisions across Swiss Re. Working with our strategic analytics platform—Palantir Foundry—and Azure Synapse, you'll create data products ranging from targeted datasets to comprehensive analytics applications supporting workforce planning, IT resource optimization, and other enterprise initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement data pipelines in collaboration with data users and cross-functional teams, including hands-on development and solution architecture
Ensure reliability and optimal performance of our data assets in Foundry and Azure environments
Transform complex business requirements into high-quality data assets and capabilities
Deliver efficient code using primarily PySpark/Python, SQL and TypeScript, focusing on simplicity, reusability, performance, and maintainability
Optimize Spark jobs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Collaborate with solution engineers, data scientists and product owners to deliver end-to-end data products
Support emerging AI and ML capabilities
About the Team
InfoTech Data & Analytics is part of Group Data Services (Digital & Tech) and links almost 70 data sources to give Swiss Re clear, trusted insight for steering group operations. The team is composed of an international workforce based in Bengaluru, Zurich and Bratislava, serving a global consumer base.
We work extensively with Palantir Foundry, Azure Synapse Analytics, and PySpark for large-scale data processing, building scalable and distributed analytics. We're an outcome-focused crew who enjoy tackling tough data engineering challenges and believe in learning, failing & growing together. We work closely with our internal customers to drive business value and appreciate proactiveness and ownership.
About You
We're looking for a problem-solver who thrives in collaborative environments and can translate complex business needs into elegant data solutions. Your technical expertise should be matched by your communication skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
7+ years in data engineering, transformation & analysis with proficiency in programming & scripting languages
Strong Python/PySpark/Scala skills along with in-depth knowledge of SQL
Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms like Azure or Palantir Foundry (equivalent experience with other cloud platforms is acceptable)
Working knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake and Azure SQL (or similar data-oriented cloud services)
Conceptual understanding of system design, data structures, scalable storage solutions, security constraints and cloud infrastructure
These are additional nice to haves:
Data visualization experience, particularly with Workshop or Power BI
TypeScript experience for Functions in Foundry or Slate front-end work
DevSecOps mindset with understanding of DevOps tools
Experience with Palantir AIP for Data Science/AI/ML applications
Basic machine-learning or statistical knowledge
Palantir Foundry or Azure Data Engineer certification
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
