We're seeking a talented Corporate Underwriter to join our team in Tokyo, specializing in both Engineering & Construction and Renewable Energy sectors. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of traditional and sustainable industries, developing innovative insurance solutions while building valuable relationships with key clients and intermediaries.

About the Role

In this pivotal position, you'll split your expertise between Engineering & Construction (50%) and Renewable Energy (50%), creating tailored insurance solutions while driving business growth through strategic client relationships and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business through targeted marketing to intermediaries and direct corporate client engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with assigned target accounts, serving as their primary point of contact

  • Analyze and assess technical insurability of submissions, making strategic decisions on terms and conditions

  • Structure programs and prepare quotations in accordance with company guidelines

  • Participate in deal teams to execute complex transactions that align with business objectives

  • Manage Natural Catastrophe risk accumulation in coordination with Group guidelines and expert opinions

  • Attend industry events and conduct site visits to strengthen market presence and technical knowledge

  • Collaborate effectively with internal specialists and global teams to support underwriting processes

  • Maintain accurate risk information in company systems and handle account administration

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Science

  • Native-level proficiency in Japanese (both written and spoken)

  • Fluent English communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Nice to have:

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering/plant industries or (re)insurance sectors

  • Specific experience with Renewable Energy, Engineering, or Property insurance

  • Background in the construction industry

  • Self-organization and effective task management skills

  • Innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Experience working in multicultural or global environments
