About the Role

Our Property Team is looking for an Underwriter to deepen the existing client base for the Nordics in cooperation with internal teams such as Claims, Risk Engineering, Business Services.

For this purpose, we are searching for a Property Underwriter with some knowledge about the Nordic commercial insurance market who is interested in developing his/her technical underwriting skills at Swiss Re.

The role requires regular business travels (mainly in the Nordic countries but also in Europe including Switzerland and UK.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyses and assesses Property submissions in respect of exposures and coverages.

  • Triages new submissions quickly and optimally identifying opportunities in cooperation with the wider underwriting team.

  • Underwrites the business in accordance with internal processes and guidelines.

  • Prepares quotations, structured programmes and offers proposals.

  • Participates in broker visits and contributes to building and maintaining broker relationships.

  • Contributes to developing our offering to make them suit the market needs and practices

About the Team

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has been successful in establishing a regional office in Copenhagen that serves larger Nordics corporates and their brokers.

The Copenhagen office is part of the BeNeLux/Nordics unit, and we work closely together with the Amsterdam team. We are now growing our local property underwriting operation to improve our local capabilities and provide underwriting excellence to the Nordic market.

About You

The ideal candidate has a go-to attitude and used to working in a high demand environment with brokers, providing high quality service with a strategic mindset. We are open to the level of experience for the right candidate, which will be evaluated during the recruitment process.

  • Ideally 2+ years' experience in the direct property insurance industry, but alternative backgrounds could be acceptable if candidate is considered to match the other requirements

  • Ability to assess risks, coverages, terms, and conditions of an insurance placement.

  • Proficiency in the use of underwriting tools and ability to interpret and judge the results. Ability to deal with complexity and sometimes incomplete information.

  • Setting priorities and allocating own resources by defining the appropriate level of detail. Ability to prioritise multiple deals in parallel without losing oversight.

  • Danish, Swedish, or Norwegian mother tongue. Full proficiency in English.  

For Denmark, the base salary range for this position is between DKK 675,000 and DKK 1,125,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

• The requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,

• The applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range.

In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
