Underwriter Renewable Energy & Utility
Location: Tokyo, JP
Position objectives and position summary (short and precise definition of most important activities)
Generates new business through marketing to intermediaries, including directly approaching to corporate clients. · Result oriented underwriting of domestic and international accounts in the defined corporate client segment with a focus on Renewable Energy/Engineering (70%) and Energy/Utility (30%). · Contribute to develop market-oriented solutions.
Main tasks/activities (In brief statements describe the main accountabilities of the job)
· Develops relationships with and seeks business flow from intermediaries in coordination with internal distribution managers and customer managers. · Acts as the primary conduit at SRIJ for assigned target accounts including client visits. · Analyses and assesses technical (re)insurability regarding terms and conditions on new offers and renewal submissions. · Prepares quotations, structures programs, and offers proposals in accordance with guidelines. Refers business for 4-eyes review to assigned reviewers. · Uses Swiss Re group tools and systems for the development of terms and conditions. · Enters and maintains risk information into the various information systems and administers the accounts. · Participates in deal teams to execute transactions. · Manages the Nat Cat accumulation control in cooperation with the Group Nat Cat guidelines and experts' opinion. · Attends local Industry events, conventions and site visits, if necessary. · Cooperates closely and works in an integrated way with internal specialists. · Contributes to other project work and accepts special assignments.
Representation activities and interaction with other parties (internal / external contacts, suppliers and providers of this position)
· Participates in meetings with intermediaries, clients and other SR Group entities · Collaborates effectively with global team on underwriting tasks · Coordinates with Products, Risk Engineering, Nat Cat teams and other internal units to support underwriting processes

· Cultivate strong relationships with intermediaries and key accounts to generate business opportunities.
· Act as the main point of contact for assigned accounts, leading client interactions and meetings.
Assess the insurability of new and renewing submissions, with a focus on strategic decision-making.
· Work on deal teams to structure and finalize transactions that align with business goals.
· Oversee natural catastrophe risk management, ensuring alignment with group guidelines and expert insights.

Essential:
• A bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Science is essential.
• Native-level proficiency in Japanese, both written and spoken, and fluency in English.
Nice to have:
· 3+ years of experience in the engineering/plant industries or (re)insurance industries, ideally with Renewable Energy, Engineering, or Property experience.
· Experience in the construction industry would be an advantage.
