About the Role:

As an Underwriter in the Surety team, you will support the underwriting of surety business for corporate and financial institution clients across Asia Pacific. You will support risk assessment, transaction analysis, and portfolio management, working closely with Senior Underwriters and cross‑functional partners. This role is designed for growth - learn from experienced specialists and build your underwriting capability in a fast‑paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with analysis of new opportunities (including basic credit assessment), covering corporate background, economic, industry, and transaction‑specific risks
  • Prepare submission packs and supporting documentation for approval workflows
  • Help review and negotiate policy wordings and legal documents under supervision
  • Maintain accurate records and trackers for active transactions, endorsements, and releases
  • Work closely with Operations, Credit Risk, Claims, Legal, and Compliance to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery
  • Participate in team routines, case discussions, and training sessions to deepen underwriting knowledge and broaden commercial acumen

About the Team:

You will be part of an engaged, collaborative team of 4 professionals located in Shanghai, Sydney and Singapore. We serve leading corporates and financial institutions on cross‑border transactions, and we’re passionate about delivering disciplined, client‑focused solutions.

About you:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a bank, large credit or surety insurer or reinsurer
  • Basic understanding of credit and financial statement analysis
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail, and resourcefulness in problem solving
  • Eager to learn and develop underwriting expertise
  • Good communication skills in English (Mandarin or other Asian languages are a plus)
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to take initiative
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks under guidance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
