Location: Sydney, NSW, AU

Are you passionate about insurance and eager to grow your underwriting career in a dynamic, globally connected team? Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Underwriting Associate to join our Operations team in Sydney. This is your opportunity to play a meaningful role in supporting one of the most exciting portfolios in the industry — Engineering and Construction.

About the Role

As an Underwriting Associate within Corporate Solutions Operations, you will be at the heart of our business — ensuring that policies are accurate, compliant, and efficiently processed. You'll work closely with underwriters, brokers, and internal and external stakeholders across the globe, contributing to the smooth execution of our Engineering and Construction portfolio. This role offers a fantastic blend of operational excellence, underwriting exposure, and cross-functional collaboration that will set you up for a rewarding career in insurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage policy documentation with precision and attention to detail, ensuring all records meet established guidelines and compliance standards

  • Set up and finalise policies across multiple systems — including underwriting, pricing, and invoicing platforms — maintaining a high standard of data accuracy

  • Handle closings and contract changes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all amendments and updates

  • Create and maintain electronic records, following established processes and governance frameworks

  • Support core underwriting tasks including renewals, quotes, and endorsements, with direct broker engagement where required

  • Assist with premium handling, including monitoring, tracking, and chasing outstanding premiums to support financial accuracy

  • Collaborate with outsourced service providers to resolve queries and issues efficiently and professionally

  • Modify, update, and process changes across applicable tools, systems, and documents as business needs evolve

  • Coordinate with underwriters and internal/external departments both locally and internationally, acting as a key point of contact across the global network

About the Team

The Operations team within Corporate Solutions is a dynamic, globally connected group that provides end-to-end operational and administrative support to Underwriting — including selected underwriting assistance. Operating across a truly international footprint spanning Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Europe, the USA, and India, the team thrives on collaboration, efficiency, and a shared commitment to compliant and effective business execution. You'll be joining a team that works closely with global and regional stakeholders, where your contributions will have a real and visible impact on the business.

About You

You are a proactive, service-oriented professional who brings a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a genuine enthusiasm for the insurance industry. You thrive in a collaborative environment, communicate with confidence and clarity, and take pride in delivering high-quality work. Whether you're engaging with brokers, coordinating with overseas colleagues, or diving into data, you bring professionalism and integrity to everything you do.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Insurance industry experience, ideally with direct exposure to underwriting processes, policy administration, or operations

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with the ability to work efficiently across multiple systems and tools

  • Strong numerical and data analysis skills, with the ability to accurately interpret and process complex information with a sound understanding of figures and financial data

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience working with Engineering and Construction insurance portfolios

  • Familiarity with underwriting systems, pricing tools, or invoicing platforms

  • Experience collaborating with outsourced service providers or working in a global, cross-functional team environment

  • Currently studying or willing to pursue a Diploma in General Insurance (ANZIIF) or a similar professional qualification

  • A keen interest in developing a long-term career in underwriting

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the business

  • A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously

  • Strong client and service orientation, with a commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for internal and external stakeholders
