As the Workplace Engineer III within the Developer Workplace squad, you will be a key enabler in our vision to empower every developer at Swiss Re with a seamless, secure, and high-performance workplace. Your role is central to creating a frictionless environment that fosters innovation, accelerates software delivery, and ensures compliance without sacrificing speed. By integrating automation, self-service solutions, and secure-by-design practices, you will help transform Swiss Re into a leading technology-driven reinsurer.

Technical Expertise

  • Software Development Background: 4-8 plus years of extensive experience in software development with a strong foundation in computational fundamentals.
  • Programming Proficiency: Expert-level skills in popular programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, Python.
  • IDE Mastery: Thorough knowledge of setting up and using IDEs such as IntelliJ IDEA and VS Code.
  • Containerization: Deep understanding of Docker internals with hands-on experience in creating, deploying, and running containerized applications.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficient in managing infrastructure resources using declarative configuration languages like Terraform.
  • CI/CD Tools: Proven experience with configuring and utilizing tools such as Git, Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Operating Systems: Solid understanding of both Linux and Windows operating systems, with practical experience in system-level troubleshooting.
  • Debugging & Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to diagnose, debug, and resolve complex issues, improving system performance and security.
  • Technical Documentation: Skilled in producing clear and effective technical documentation using diagrams, flowcharts, and detailed guides.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Proven ability to lead and drive initiatives across multiple teams and departments, ensuring alignment of goals and clarity in technical direction.
  • Experience in providing technical support and automation that empower developers to work autonomously and efficiently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • A proactive, innovative mindset focused on streamlining processes, increasing automation, and driving the ongoing evolution of the developer experience.
  • Ability to translate developer pain points into strategic solutions, advocating for automation, self-service, and efficiency.
  • Experience working in global technology organizations, understanding the needs of a distributed developer workforce.
