South Africa's economic situation was already strained before COVID-19 sent the global economy into one of the steepest and deepest recessions we have witnessed. The harsh and gradually eased economic lockdown in South Africa has brought the pandemic under control, for now. However, the economic contraction inflicted is among the most severe globally and the overall signs for economic recovery are rather bleak.
What is needed to bring Africa's leading economy back on an uphill trajectory in order to enable it to achieve its true potential?
