Interview with Janet Northey from Travelopia
Travelopia is a collection of international travel brands offering unique and amazing travel experiences to our customers ranging from yachting holidays to polar cruisers, from trekking in the Himalayas to private jet tours.
What where your biggest challenges in International Programs?
We came into the start of 2020 pulling together all of the data for our insurance renewal including the international casualty program that we were looking to place and remarket. We pulled together our passenger numbers, our revenue and the other data required and then all of a sudden Covid-19 hit.
What were the consequences of Covid-19 for Travelopia?
Obviously that has been a huge challenge for the travel industry as a whole and also for our business. All of the plans that we had put in place, all of the data sets basically, had to be thrown out of the window. It was like starting again from scratch.
How could Swiss Re Corporate Solutions support your business?
Coming around to our 2020 renewal program, we knew that we were looking to re-market our international casualty program and it made sense for us to speak to Swiss Re. We previously had conversations with them and we started to build up a relationship.
They're able to come to the table with a creative and flexible solution at a time of real uncertainty for Travelopia.
Which kind of partnership were you looking for?
We needed an insurer who could be flexible and create a program for us that would really help during these uncertain times and would take into account the fact that we weren't aware how many people would be traveling over the course of the next year and at what particular times they would be traveling to what destinations.
What was your experience with Swiss Re Corporate Solutions?
In summary, we're very happy that we placed our international casualty program with Swiss Re. They're able to come to the table with a creative and flexible solution at a time of real uncertainty for Travelopia and since we placed the policy over six months ago, we've been also happy with the service provided by the Corporate Solutions team at Swiss Re.
