Swiss Re Corporate Solutions appoints Terashni Pillay as new Chief Executive Officer South Africa

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions appoints Terashni Pillay as Chief Executive Officer South Africa, effective 1 November. In this role, Ms. Pillay will be responsible for managing the strategy development and performance of the company's presence in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Based in Johannesburg, she succeeds Michelle Oosthuizen, who has been appointed Office Head of the Chief Underwriting Officer at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and relocated to Zurich.

Ms. Pillay has an established career in the insurance industry, with a focus on risk engineering covering multi-national commercial and corporate property, heavy manufacturing, energy, and chemical industries. She most recently held the position of Practice Leader, overseeing the general management of the Property Risk Consulting practice at a large international broker and was a member of the International Operations Committee.

A South African national, Ms. Pillay holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Gordon Institute of Business Science of the University of Pretoria as well as two Bachelor degrees, one in chemical engineering and the other in environmental science from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions serves clients and brokers throughout South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa from its Johannesburg office, established in 2015. With a focus on mid- and large-sized corporate customers, it offers the full range of its products, including non-traditional risk solutions, international programmes as well as its long-term capacity and underwriting expertise. In December 2020, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Africa received a direct insurance authorisation from the South African joint regulators Prudential Authority and Financial Sector Conduct Authority as well as the highest possible financial strength rating (zaAAA) on the South African national scale by Standard & Poor's.
