Alan Rutherford Head Risk Engineering Services ANZ

Alan Rutherford is a degree-qualified engineer with more than 30 years of professional experience, including 15 years in the insurance and risk engineering sector.

He brings deep expertise in risk management, loss prevention, and strategic account leadership for some of the world’s largest and most complex insured portfolios.  Alan has held senior engineering and management roles with global insurers including AIG, CGU (IAG), and FM Global, where he led risk improvement strategies for multi-billion-dollar accounts across Australia and internationally.

He is recognised for his ability to translate complex technical risk into practical, commercially focused solutions, working closely with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.

In addition to his insurance career, Alan has a strong engineering background across oil and gas, semiconductor manufacturing, and distillery operations, with hands-on experience in high-hazard, high-value industrial environments.
