As a professional independent director, she is a strong advocate of the importance of governance in general and risk management in particular.

Climate governance is a big passion: in May 2019, she founded Climate Governance Malaysia which is the country chapter of the World Economic Forum’s Climate Governance Initiative, and also led a workstream on policy advocacy in The CEO Action Network.

In addition, she is an Adjunct Professor at UNITAR International University, Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia, member of the Global Advisory Board of Nottingham University's School of Business and the Advisory Panel of the UN Global Compact Malaysia’s Sustainability Center of Excellence.

She is the Chairman of Bursa-listed Dutch Lady Milk Industries (member of the Royal Friesland Campina Group) and independent director at Bursa-listed Petronas Chemicals, HSBC Bank Malaysia, MCIS Insurance (a member of the Sanlam group) and Zurich General Insurance.

Her legal degree and professional qualification as a chartered accountant provided a strong launchpad for her move into investment banking. After 8 years of work experience, she was invited to manage the first Malaysian government-owned foreign technology venture capital fund, Encipta.

As technology venture manager, she oversaw a portfolio of technology start-up companies, including managing the trade sale of an investment to Google, Inc. and the early listing process of another investment on the stock exchange.

As founder / owner of Artisan Encipta, her consulting assignments included working with one of the most significant philanthropists in the country to advise on the impact assessment of his initiatives and advising the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on improving their national innovation ecosystems.

It is important to give back to the community and in Sunita's capacity as trustee of 6 charities, she is involved in a spectrum of community-based activities. She also has a personal interest in the performing arts and is founder & festival director of a month-long city-wide performing arts festival: the Kuala Lumpur International Arts Festival, DiverseCity.

A firm believer in the importance of being a team player, she actively contributes to discussions and engagements, seeking to identify innovative and workable solutions to challenges. Specialties include: consulting on innovation, fund raising, mergers and acquisitions, managing talent.
