Michael joined Swiss Re Zurich in 1998, where he oversaw IT projects within the group's "New Markets" division. He then moved to New York taking over underwriting responsibilities for professional risks of the accountancy and consultancy industry in 1999, assuming lead underwriting responsibilities for professional risks of global and large North American accounting and consulting organizations in 2004. Ever since 2008, Michael had sustained management responsibilities covering a multitude of large professional services organizations under different organizational structures, culminating in his current role as global head of the professional risks business for the accountancy and consultancy industry.

Michael is a chartered chemical engineer of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich; he also holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland.
