Sebastiaan van Gilst Head ART France

Sebastiaan was appointed Head Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) France at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in July 2026.

Prior to his current role, Sebastiaan has held positions as Parametric Natural Catastrophe Underwriter and Senior Structurer within the ART team. He specialises in structuring and underwriting bespoke ART solutions for large corporate clients, with expertise spanning parametric insurance, captives, structured re/insurance programmes and other innovative risk transfer solutions.

Before joining Swiss Re in 2024, Sebastiaan held underwriting roles within the Property Treaty Reinsurance division. He began his career in reinsurance at Munich Re in 2020 through the International Graduate Trainee Programme.

Sebastiaan holds a Master of Mathematics (MMath) from the University of St Andrews.
