Zuriel leads the Risk Management Segment in Africa, which provides industry specific support to the continents largest and most complex enterprises in the areas of risk, people and strategy. In this role he advises multinational businesses on a range of critical matters relating to risk exposure including emerging risks, climate and catastrophic risk, and risk transfer solutions. Zuriel has 17 years of relevant industry experience with multinational companies.

Zuriel provided project leadership for Marsh McLennan’s journey to carbon neutrality in the firm’s 150th year. He leads a multi-stakeholder regional team which brings together senior leaders from government, the public and private sector that helps progress dialogue and action in the areas of climate, sustainability, cyber and digital risks faced by enterprises and society at large.

Prior to joining Marsh, he led the ground-up establishment of an innovative, technology-driven, commercial insurance business within Discovery Limited, and held various leadership roles within the Hollard Group.

Zuriel is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa. He is a Past President of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng (served in 2015), where he was the youngest President in the organisation’s 109-year history. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria, a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Insurance & Risk Management and Marketing from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and a Certificate in FinTech from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Zuriel was recently selected as part of the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders of 2022, a diverse community of leaders committed to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Zuriel is married and has three children. He is a keen traveler, marathon runner and gym enthusiast.
