About The Role


Do you have career aspirations to work in Actuarial Pricing Team in commercial General Insurance space – developing the product know-how and analytical skills vital to improve the profitability of a global Underwriting portfolio?

The "Associate Pricing Actuary" is a standout colleague who will support senior team members in carrying out various analysis by using data driven techniques & reporting into Lead Actuary Engineering within Actuarial Portfolio Management (APM) Unit.

You have good understanding of Actuarial techniques and an eagerness to learn new topics. You demonstrate the highest level of behavioral attributes to be successful in a multi-cultural distributed team.

You must be using actuarial methods and techniques to help develop insight into portfolio and trends to set costing parameters for our in-house proprietary Engineering costing models, helping improve the predictability and accuracy of costing the model.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Profitability Studies

  • Work with senior team members to help build a clear and independent view on current pricing or loss adequacy driven by data analysis.
  • Translate details into impactful Executive reports along with effective visualizations and recommendations.

 Costing Accuracy and Data Analytics

  • Help and work with senior team members to translate profitability findings into corrective actions on costing models and parameters, involving:
    • Developing and maintaining costing parameters and tools
    • Model and price deal transactions.
  • Willing to learn and use actuarial and data science techniques to develop insights and trends that can be used for risk selection or differentiation; and costing improvements.


About The Team 


We are a global fraternity of Actuaries spread across the globe in Bangalore, Munich, Zurich, Manchester, London, New York, Windsor and Kansas City. Our team comprises of qualified and student Actuaries who work on the largest portfolio for Swiss Re CorSo. We are part of the Underwriting Unit and report to the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).

About you

  • You have a bachelor's degree in a Quantitative/Numerical subject from a recognized university.
  • Good progression towards actuarial qualification.
  • You have practical experience of up to 3 years in an Actuarial domain ideally in general insurance.
  • You have excellent skills in MS Excel and strong programming skills in R/Python or SQL.
  • You have a flair for data and numbers with a high level of numeracy and attention to detail
  • You have excellent communication skills in English and possess ability to convey complex ideas effectively to wider audience.
  • You will have an open-minded, intellectually curious approach to everything you do; and you are likely someone who is continually learning from a variety of sources
