Position objectives and position summary
- Drive new business generation by marketing to intermediaries and proactively engaging directly with corporate clients.
- Perform results-driven underwriting of domestic and international accounts within the defined corporate client segment, with a portfolio focus on Renewable Energy (60%), Engineering/Construction (20%), and Energy (20%).
- Contribute to the development of innovative, market-oriented insurance solutions tailored to client needs.
Main tasks/activities
- Lead the Energy Team, manage and monitor the assigned portfolio, and report to the Head P&S Japan (line manager).
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with intermediaries in coordination with internal distribution and customer managers.
- Act as the primary contact at SRIJ for designated target accounts, including conducting client visits.
- Analyze and assess technical (re)insurability, including terms and conditions for new offers and renewals.
- Prepare quotations, structure programs, and deliver proposals in accordance with guidelines, ensuring appropriate 4-eyes reviews.
- Utilize Swiss Re Group tools and systems to develop and apply terms and conditions.
- Enter and maintain accurate risk information within internal systems and manage account administration.
- Participate in deal teams to support the successful execution of transactions.
- Oversee Nat Cat accumulation control in line with Group Nat Cat guidelines and expert input.
- Represent SRIJ at local industry events, conventions, and site visits as needed.
- Collaborate closely with internal specialists and contribute to cross-functional projects or special assignments.
Representation activities and interaction with other parties
- Represent SRIJ in meetings with intermediaries, clients, and Swiss Re Group entities.
- Collaborate effectively with global teams to ensure consistent delivery.
- Coordinate with Product, Risk Engineering, and Nat Cat teams, as well as other relevant internal units.
About You
Experience, Knowledge, and Mindset
- 7+ years of (re)insurance industry experience, ideally in Renewable Energy, Engineering, or Property underwriting.
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in common IT applications.
- High interest and willingness to learn technical subjects.
- Strong client orientation and collaborative team spirit.
- Sound understanding of value propositions and products in the commercial insurance market for large corporates in Japan.
- Openness to innovation and continuous learning of Swiss Re CorSo product capabilities.
Professional Skills
- Technical expertise in Engineering/Construction, with preferred experience in Energy.
- Strong risk assessment and underwriting skills.
- Client-focused with proven business origination and account management capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across different levels and geographies.
- Native-level Japanese (spoken and written) and fluent English.

Education
- University degree required; Engineering degree preferred.
