Join our Engineering & Construction team in Zurich and grow your expertise while working on engineering and construction projects and international programs. Develop your career path toward a (senior) underwriting position while making an impact in the engineering and construction sectors. 

About the Role 

In this position, you'll be assessing risks and negotiating insurance conditions for diverse projects and programs in power generation, manufacturing, infrastructure, and construction, as well as renewable energy.  

We are open to the level of experience, as we offer development and will evaluate the level of seniority during the recruitment process. This can be from graduate level with a technical background or if you have a few years of underwriting experience already. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assess risks and negotiate insurance conditions for projects in power, manufacturing, infrastructure, and construction sectors 
  • Build relationships with clients and brokers on the Swiss market 
  • Lead underwriting processes when in a lead position 
  • Contribute to business development by representing Corporate Solutions with brokers and clients 
  • Grow our portfolio in Engineering and Construction as well as Renewable Energy sector 

About the Team 

You'll join a team of experienced (Senior) Underwriters in Zurich, BeNeLux, Nordics and Italy with expertise across the construction market, with significant focus on international programs. We serve clients domiciled in Switzerland, insuring their projects and assets worldwide. 

About You 

You're motivated to learn and grow in corporate insurance, take initiative, and understand the Swiss Engineering and Construction business. 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements: 

  • Experience as an Engineering and Construction Underwriter OR successfully completed Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, civil, or process); OR 2+ years as a professional engineer; OR loss adjuster with technical knowledge 
  • Strong analytical skills and IT proficiency 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as confidence working with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders 
  • High degree of initiative, accountability and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively  
  • Fluent in German and English 

These are additional nice to haves: 

  • Experience in Construction & Engineering sector 
  • Insurance industry experience, particularly in underwriting or loss adjustment on the Swiss market 
  • Financial university degree 
  • Business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset 

For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between 100,000 and 150,000 CHF (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

 • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role

• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
