Collaboration and agility in our International Programs approach successfully met the standalone product recall policy needs of a Hong Kong-headquartered manufacturing and trading company.

Background

Headquartered in Hong Kong, the customer is in the furniture manufacturing and trading industry with over 2000 employees located around the world. With operations in Greater China and the US, its Hong Kong hub functions as its trading and marketing offices. Manufacturing and warehousing are located in China, while its US operations runs as a business center.

Existing arrangement

The customer's existing policy was initially serviced by another insurer. However, as the customer was looking to put in place a standalone product recall policy that would offer a more extensive insurance coverage for the recall trigger, situation, type and limit, the existing insurer was unable to meet the customer's needs. Instead, the existing insurer had offered a Commercial General Liability (CGL) with an added recall extension, which did not meet the customer's needs.

Opportunity

Awareness of our International Programs capabilities led to the broker approaching us on the customer's behalf. With the customer's standalone policy requirements, the broker contacted us 10 days prior to the expiry of the customer's existing policy. Our team's responsiveness, which impressed the broker, led to the further collaboration on this deal.

Working diligently across regions and time zones, our team succeeded in securing the internal approvals to share our quotation with the broker and customer ahead of the policy expiry.

Feedback from the broker indicated that our team's collaborative approach, claims capabilities and responsiveness boosted their confidence in our team. Consequently, this has led to more International Programs opportunities with the broker.
