Jerome Jean Haegeli Group Chief Economist Head of Swiss Re Institute

Jérôme Haegeli is Group Chief Economist of Swiss Re and Head of Swiss Re Institute, where he leads the Group’s global economic and insurance market research and serves as its principal thought leader on macroeconomic, financial and structural risk issues.

He oversees a global team of economists and analysts across Europe, the Americas and Asia, providing forward-looking analysis, scenarios and insights that inform Swiss Re’s Group-level strategy, risk management and capital allocation, as well as client engagement. Jérôme is also Managing Editor of sigma, Swiss Re’s flagship research series and one of the insurance industry’s leading global reference publications.

He actively engages with global policymakers, regulators and industry leaders on strengthening economic resilience, financial stability and the role of insurance as a risk absorber and long-term investor. He has served in senior advisory roles to multilateral institutions, including the World Bank, and sits on external advisory and governance bodies such as the Institute of International Finance, the World Economic Forum, the International Capital Market Association and the London School of Economics Financial Markets Group.

Previously, Jérôme held senior roles at Swiss Re Asset Management, the International Monetary Fund, the Swiss National Bank, UBS and Bank Julius Baer. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Basel and an MSc from the London School of Economics, and was a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University’s Department of Economics.
