William Porter Head International Programs Latin America

William J. Porter, CPCU, is a seasoned insurance executive based in New York City. He currently serves as Head Property US and Head International Programs Americas at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

In his capacity at Swiss Re, Mr. Porter is responsible for managing the Property underwriting teams across the United States. He guides the strategic direction of the Property portfolio, ensuring that the company maintains a competitive and robust offering in the market. Additionally, Mr. Porter oversees the product and service delivery for Swiss Re’s International Programs clients throughout North America and Latin America.

Mr. Porter is a member of both the CorSo US Leadership Team and the International Programs Leadership Team, contributing to the company’s leadership and strategic planning efforts.

Mr. Porter joined Swiss Re in February 2020, where he played a key role in building out the International Programs proposition for the firm.

Before joining Swiss Re, Mr. Porter spent nearly twenty years at Zurich Insurance, working in both the Atlanta and New York City offices. With a strong background in property underwriting, Mr. Porter held various leadership roles across Underwriting, International, and Distribution functions, demonstrating broad expertise within the insurance sector.

Mr. Porter earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2005, underscoring his commitment to professional development and industry expertise.
