General Insurance Code of Practice
Article information and share options
Swiss Re International SE is a subscriber to the General Insurance Code of Practice (Code), a voluntary code designed to protect the rights of general insurance policyholders and help promote better relations between insurers and their customers
We support the Code and are committed to helping our customers better understand their rights when buying insurance, making claims, resolving a complaint or experiencing financial hardship.
Design and distribution of retail insurance products
We are committed to a customer-centric approach in designing and distributing insurance products that meet customer needs.
We have procedures and processes in place to ensure that we take into account customer needs before retail insurance products are offered to the market. All of our retail insurance products are subject to product governance and oversight requirements.
From 5 October 2021, we will (in collaboration with our distribution partners) make available Target Market Determinations (TMD) for each of our retail insurance products. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that our products are distributed in line with those TMDs and we will review the TMDs regularly.
Together with our distribution partners, we continue to review and monitor our products after they are released to ensure that we are continuing to meet customer needs.
